In seven days, the biggest shopping day in America, if not the world, will take place. The infamous “Black Friday” is approaching and next week millions of consumers will be waking up to stand in the 4am lines to ensure that they capitalize on every available deal. ING Direct just gave the team here at MyBankTracker a tip that they will be participating in Black Friday with a few deals of their own, so we thought we’d pass it along.

Now that the Black Friday holiday shopping rush is over, retailers are eager to take a look at the numbers for some insight into what kind of a holiday shopping year its going to be. Everyone has heard of Black Friday, but the newest shopping day phenomenon is Cyber Monday, the holiday shopping seasons online equivalent to Black Friday. Online shopping has become a very important part of the tremendous retail revenue that is recorded over the holiday season. In order to track that new source, Chase Paymentech, a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase, has announced that it will for the third year in a row track online shopping transactions to create a report on shopping trends for this holiday season.

Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner, and while many are looking forward to a relaxing day of digesting on the couch and watching football the following Friday, the savvy holiday shopper will be up bright and early (or even out late at night), shopping list in hand, trying to find the best deals on the hottest toys before they sell out.

‘Tis the season for many consumers to wake up early, leave all their cares behind and hit the retail store to get deals they have been craving all year. It’s that special time when parents make sure they have their kids’ request memorized and target those products as soon as they enter the store. Last year’s Black Friday saw many retail stores have what seemed to be an abundance of inventory and hence prices were pretty much slashed by half.

Now that the unemployment rate has surpassed 10 percent, the consumer market is looking more so than ever for deals that will extend the value of their savings.   Experian Simmons, an organization that monitors the market’s pulse and consumer information has found that this year, consumers have gone online early to find deals and complete their shopping for the holiday season while they still have a steady income.
