Beyond Beans & Cornbread

I have been preaching at you a lot about using everything you’ve got.  Well, that is what this post is all about.  I’ve had a couple people ask me how I cook beans. A Rural Cheapskate’s Thoughts on Buying Local

One of the biggest challenges I face shopping in a rural area is the pressure to do my shopping locally.
If I visit the local shops, I often enjoy great customer service, but I pay a lot more for that experience.
If I shop at a larger chain store or shop online, I often find great deals, but not as nice of an experience.

Weekly Roundup: College Football Kickoff Edition

Just a simple question for you..are you ready for some football? I know I am. And what’s this rumor about extending the NFL season to 18 games? I don’t like it. Do Your Kids Have Too Many Toys?

When my son was little he had a mild addiction to Thomas the Train collectibles. Those things were everywhere (you may remember Harold the Helicopter’s flight to the bottom of our guest toilet and my mission to retrieve him)! Then it was monster trucks. Now, Legos are all the rage.

Banana Almond Butter Breakfast Bars

Many of you requested this recipe so I tried to supply it as quickly as possible!  I found this recipe online and tweaked it so I could use ingredients on hand.  The final result is a cross between a chewy granola bar and one of those “Oatmeal to Go” breakfast bars/cookies.  Either way… they are quite filling and delicious!  If you have other recipes that you would like to see leave me a comment and I’ll try to get them up next!

Is It Time to Sell Your Mutual Fund?

One of the most difficult things to figure out in investing is when to sell something. The decision to switch things up can be a difficult one to make. What if you get rid of an investment, and it takes off? You’ve just lost out on big profits. Another concern is that you keep an investment that spirals downward, resulting in big losses when you finally decide you have to sell.

Herbalife

Parents are troubled when they saw the call to change the way adolescents think. Advertisers never seem to stop from telling the teens to get so bony (unconsciously or consciously) through their television ads. Herbalife sees that many of the victims are clinging on health-risking pills.
